SIA President

Stephanie Smith

Stephanie Smith is serving a one-year term as president of Soroptimist's international board of directors. As president, Smith will lead the board in future thinking and oversight of its finances and strategy. As part of the organization’s long-term strategy, she will champion efforts to increase Soroptimist’s collective impact in helping women and girls around the world to reach their full potential.

A member since 1994, Smith has held several leadership positions, including president-elect, region governor, district director, club president, vice president, and treasurer.

"My focus this next year is to support and encourage all of us to dream big together,” stated Smith. “I'm a firm believer in this African proverb: ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’ We will take our mission to new heights if we dream big together.”

“When you give the gift of education to a woman you are helping her improve her circumstances, which in turn helps her provide for her family financially and emotionally,” added Smith. “She becomes a role model that her family and community will want to follow.”

Smith retired as Vice President/Senior Learning and Development Consultant at Wells Fargo Bank. She is the owner of SL Smith Coaching and Consulting and recently decided to unretire to work in Human Resources for Island Transit. Smith received an associate of arts degree from Centralia College.
