Madoka Ushio

Madoka Ushio of SI/Asahikawa, Japan (Japan Kita Region), is currently serving a one-year term as president of the Soroptimist International of the Americas, Inc.® (SIA) Board of Directors.In this role, Madoka will guide the board in shaping the organization’s vision, overseeing its financial and strategic direction, and leading efforts to amplify Soroptimist’s global impact in empowering women and girls to achieve their full potential through access to education.
A member since 1998, Madoka has held several leadership positions, including SIA board president-elect, region public awareness chair, region governor, region governor-elect, club president and club president-elect.
In addition to her work as a Soroptimist, Madoka has served on several committees including the Bloomington-Normal Asahikawa Sister Cities Committee and the Hokkaido University of Education Supporter’s Association. She received the Hokkaido Social Contribution Award in 2020. In her free time, she enjoys golf, skiing and participating in tea ceremonies.
