Preparing Your Application
Here are a few things you can do to prepare your application:
- Plan who your reference(s) will be: No need to collect letters; we provide an online reference form. Think about who your biggest cheerleaders are...they can be mentors, teachers, counselors, supervisors, colleagues, or case managers. Only one reference is required. The second is optional but will make your application stronger.
- Draft your personal statement: The Live Your Dream Awards are all about helping women who have faced obstacles on the path to living their dreams. Since 1972, the award has provided tens of thousands of women with cash grants to help them achieve their educational and career goals. In 750 words or less, tell us how you think this could help you live your dream.
- If you choose to use AI tools, we encourage you to use them to enhance, rather than replace your own writing and thoughts. Your application should reflect your own voice and individual journey - not AI-generated text.
Review the Live Your Dream Awards AI Usage Guidelines for Applicants.
All applications are reviewed personally by humans, not AI.
- Map out your current educational and career goals. In addition to learning more about your personal journey, we want to know more about where you are in your education – and where you’re headed. Be prepared to provide a description in 300 words or less about your current education and career aspirations so we can learn more about your goals.
- Be prepared to share your expenses and income. You will have the option to include your expenses and income. If you'd like help doing this, consult our Financial Section Tips Worksheets.

- Mark your calendar: The Application System is open August 1 - November 15 each year. All materials must be submitted by November 15!
- At least one reference must be completed and submitted by the deadline in order for you to submit your application, so we encourage you to plan ahead and communicate with your reference(s)!
