Philadelphia, PA — LiveYourDream.org recently received an award of distinction in the 2017 Communicator Awards for its web-based activism efforts. The Communicator Awards is an annual competition honoring work that makes a lasting impact in the areas of advertising, corporate communications, public relations and identity work for print, video, and interactive.
Launched in 2014, LiveYourDream.org is an online network whose goal is to connect, mobilize, and empower a passionate community of activists and volunteers to take action on behalf of disadvantaged women and girls. The network is powered by Soroptimist, which develops the programs and actions offered through LiveYourDream.org.
LiveYourDream.org inspires people from all walks of life to live their dreams, while helping less fortunate women and girls to live theirs. This is accomplished through hands-on opportunities, awareness and advocacy efforts, and financial support. Volunteers choose their cause and course of action based on how much time they have. LiveYourDream.org provides the tools to take action—whether it’s sharing on social media, making a donation, signing petitions, printing and posting flyers, or working one-on-one with a woman in need. To date, 75,000 actions have been taken to advocate for women and girls and raise awareness about Soroptimist’s life-changing Dream Programs: the Live Your Dream Awards and Dream It, Be It.
In its 23rd year, the Communicator Awards received with more than 6,000 entries from the United States and around the world, making it the largest awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals. The awards program is judged and overseen by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), a 600+ member organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media. Current AIVA membership represents a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms including: AirType Studio, Condè Nast, Disney, Keller Crescent, Lockheed Martin, Monster.com, MTV, rabble+rouser, Time Inc., Tribal DDB, and Yahoo!.
"Now, more than ever, people feel a sense of urgency to make a difference," said Alyssa Ketterer Marshall, LiveYourDream.org director. "We’re honored to be recognized as an innovative space where people can advocate and volunteer within seconds to empower women and girls."
LiveYourDream.org is part of Soroptimist, a global organization that improves the lives of women and girls through the work of volunteers in 20 countries and territories.
