2017-2018 Soroptimist Leadership

Dawn Marie Lemonds Dawn Marie Lemonds, President
Dawn Marie Lemonds of Tustin, Calif., USA, will serve a one-year term as president of Soroptimist's international board of directors. As president, Lemonds oversee strategic planning and program development for the organization. She will also lead Soroptimist’s efforts to increase its collective impact in helping women and girls around the world to lead better lives.

Lemonds is currently a member of Soroptimist International of Newport Harbor Area, one of 1,300 SIA clubs. A member since 1982, she has held several leadership positions at all levels of the organization including Soroptimist International programme director; SIA board director; region governor; and club president and treasurer.

Lemonds retired in 2014 after serving as the director of the South Coast Region Project for the state of California. She holds a master of science degree from Cal State University, Fullerton, and a bachelor’s degree in social ecology from the University of California. In addition to her Soroptimist activities, Lemonds also serves as a board member of the Global Center for Women and Justice, and Peppermint Ridge. She also volunteers with the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Tustin, and the Crystal Cove Alliance.

   
Elizabeth Di Geronimo Elizabeth Di Geronimo, President-Elect
As president-elect, Di Geronimo will work with President Dawn Marie Lemonds, to oversee Soroptimist’s strategic planning and program development for the organization. She will also help lead Soroptimist’s efforts to increase its collective impact in helping women and girls around the world to lead better lives.

Di Geronimo is a member of Soroptimist International of Miranda, one of 1,300 clubs. A member since 1998, Di Geronimo has held several leadership positions at all levels of the organization including region governor; and club president and treasurer. She will become the organization’s president on September 1, 2018.

Di Geronimo is a civil engineer. She serves on the board of directors of a medical and shopping center complex. She attended Metropolitana University in Caracas, where she studied structural engineering.

   
Kathy King

Kathy King, Secretary/Treasurer
Kathy King of Klamath Falls, Ore., USA, will serve a one-year term as secretary/treasurer of Soroptimist's international board of directors. In this role, King will participate in strategic planning and program development for the organization in an effort to increase the organization’s collective impact in helping women and girls around the world lead better lives. In addition, she will work with Soroptimist’s professional staff to oversee the organization’s financial practices and accounts.

King is a member of Soroptimist International of Klamath Falls, one of 1,300 clubs. A member since 1989, King has held several leadership positions at all levels of the organization including region governor; district director; and club president, vice president and secretary.

King is an administrative assistant at Sky Lake Medical Center and the co-owner of Al King Farms. She attended California State University in Sacramento, Calif., where she received a bachelor of arts degree in corrections. In addition to her Soroptimist activities, King also serves on the Klamath Community College Board of Education and the Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

   
Liz Lucas Elizabeth M. Lucas, CAE, MBA, CEO and Executive Director
As Soroptimist International of the Americas’s Executive Director & CEO, Lucas oversees the overall direction setting and implementation of our organization’s operations in 20 countries and territories. She is working with volunteers and staff to expand support for our mission, develop resources to ensure our financial security, strengthen our brand, and ensure programming is sustainable and measurable to increase our collective impact.

Previously she spent 15 years with the American Massage Therapy Association and the Massage Therapy Foundation. There, she guided the strategic development of both organizations. Her results ranged from the creation of a global expansion strategy to growing the organization two fold; establishing research conferences and online education; and successfully advocating for state laws regulating the profession.

Her prior association experience in the safety, health and environmental industries is where she first started to shape public policy. As a small business owner, she assisted Fortune 500 companies in their new product introduction and sales training. She began her career in retail merchandising, where she learned to identify trends around the globe and adapt them for local consumption.

Lucas is active in professional and civic organizations, including the American Society of Association Executives, the Association Forum of Chicagoland, Landmark College, and the Guild of St. Mary.
