Building Inclusive and Sustainable Cities and Communities
The Civil Society Division of the UN (formerly DPI) offers a rare opportunity for Soroptimists to attend a United Nations Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, this summer. The theme of the conference is Building Inclusive and Sustainable Cities and Communities and will include sessions on Women and Girls, Economic Development, Youth Empowerment, Climate Change, Peaceful Societies, Media and Communications, and Emerging Technologies.
The conference provides Soroptimists the opportunity to learn about major trends identified by the United Nations, the ability to network with Soroptimists and other NGOs and opportunities to raise the profile of Soroptimist and our work to a worldwide audience. The Soroptimist delegation will be led by immediate SIA past president, Dawn Marie Lemonds, SI president-elect, Sharon Fisher, and SI Director of Advocacy, Beverly Bucur. Join us for this amazing opportunity!
Registration is now open to all members of civil society. Registration closes on July 15 or when capacity is reached. Each Civil Society Organization is allowed 20 registrations so Soroptimists may register as members of Soroptimist International or as individuals if organization capacity is reached. There is no charge for the conference but members are responsible for their own expenses in attending the conference.
Please note that registration is approved by the UN Civil Society Division. Soroptimist International will not be notified when you register or are approved. We are asking that once you are approved you notify Soroptimist International Director of Advocacy, atso that we can coordinate delegate activities at the conference.
