I Stop Traffic has produced two DVDs addressing human trafficking. Svetlana's Journey chronicles the story of a young woman who is sold into prostitution and held captive for eight months. This video is useful as an awareness-raising tool for general audiences. Cargo: Innocence Lost provides an educational look at multiple aspects of sex trafficking, including what it is, who traffickers are and how they operate, and rehabilitation of victims.
Victor Malarek, a journalist and advocate has written two important books about trafficking. The Natashas chronicles modern global sex trafficking, with a focus on victims from former Soviet states. The Johns focuses on the men who purchase sex and how that demand fuels global sex trafficking. You can also listen and watch Victor Malarek discuss his work.
The U.S. State Department publishes a Trafficking in Persons Report each year. The 2010 report was the first to include information about the United States. Read the letter summarizing SIA’s response to the 2010 report.
The Global Report on Trafficking in Persons was created by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, uses data from 155 countries to provide an overview of the state of human trafficking and the fight to stop it.
