PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Soroptimist International of the Americas, an international volunteer organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world, recently hired Jean L. Mervine, of Marlton, N.J., to serve as senior director of finance and administration.
In this position, Mervine will oversee Soroptimist’s accounting and investment functions. Responsibilities include developing and monitoring the organization’s budgets, financial policies and internal accounting systems; overseeing staff recruitment, hiring and benefits administration; and managing the organization’s inventory processes.
“We are excited to have Jean working with our organization,” said Soroptimist’s executive director, Leigh Wintz, CAE. “Her impressive accomplishments and experience in strategic planning, financial forecasting and reporting will be invaluable in helping Soroptimist to meet its mission.”
A skilled senior financial manager with more than 20 years’ experience in non-profit financial management, Mervine has worked with organizations including Geriatric and Medical Centers Inc., American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania, and Samaritan Hospice in Marlton, N.J. She holds a master’s degree in management from Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, N.J., and a bachelor’s degree from Douglass College in New Brunswick, N.J. She also attained a certificate in non-profit management from University of Illinois at Chicago and a certificate in financial management for non-profit organizations from the University of Pennsylvania.
