PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Soroptimist International of the Americas, an international volunteer
organization of business and professional women dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls, received the APEX Award of Publication Excellence for its quarterly magazine, Best for Women.

Best for Women magazine serves as Soroptimist’s official publication and the primary internal
communication vehicle for members. It received recognition in the “Magazine & Journals—Print Up to 32 Pages” category.

“We are extremely proud of our excellent publication, and were pleased to receive this validation of its value,” stated Leigh Wintz, Soroptimist’s executive director. “Not only does Best for Women magazine serve as a member benefit, but it showcases what Soroptimist truly embodies—an organization committed to empowering women.”

The award-winning magazine includes feature stories about women’s issues and Soroptimist
programs; updates on Soroptimist efforts; and recognition of Soroptimist accomplishments. Recent feature articles include those on women and aging, acquaintance rape, obstetric fistula and mail order brides. The magazine has been published continuously in various forms since 1931.

In its 19th year, the APEX Awards are an annual competition based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence. Writers, editors and publications staff of both business and nonprofit organizations can participate. The APEX Awards of Excellence recognizes exceptional entries in 105 sub-categories.

This is the fourth APEX Award granted to Best for Women. The magazine has also been the recipient of numerous other awards, including: The Communicator Awards, the Women in Communications’ Clarion Award, the Arnold’s Admirables Citation and the ASAE Gold Circle Awards.

Soroptimist, a 501(c)(3) organization, is a recipient of the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations' Seal of Excellence. For more information about how Soroptimist improves the lives of women and girls, visit www.soroptimist.org.
