Philadelphia, PA—LiveYourDream.org, a new online, technology-based volunteer community that empowers offline action to help women and girls reach their potential, received the 2012 MarCom Gold Award in the “Nonprofit Web Based Media” category.
The MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand creative professionals. The Association oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges and rewards outstanding achievement and service to the profession.
LiveYourDream.org is powered by Soroptimist International of the Americas, an international women’s organization whose members work to improve socio-economic conditions for women and girls.
“We are thrilled to be recognized for our new and innovative volunteer platform,” states Soroptimist Executive Director/CEO Elizabeth Lucas. “LiveYourDream.org harnesses the collective power of people around the world to make a dramatic impact in the lives of less fortunate women and girls. And due to its virtual nature, anyone who wishes to support women and girls in their quest to lead better lives is free to join the movement.”
Supporters can take action in a variety of hands-on projects that help women and girls. The site offers advocacy efforts and volunteer opportunities through a number of award-winning Soroptimist programs. Programs encompass economic empowerment through education, teen dating violence, domestic abuse, and sex slavery. Volunteers choose their cause and level of involvement. There are no costs or commitments associated with LiveYourDream.org
“If you are interested in ending teen dating violence, for instance, you could do something as simple as posting one of our messages on your Facebook wall to spread awareness,” says Lucas. “But if you want to do more, you could distribute teen dating violence bookmarks at schools in your local community, or hold your own awareness campaign with a group of friends. No matter what you do, when you become involved in LiveYourDream.org, you support life-changing programs and causes for women and girls.”
In addition to obtaining resources to help others, supporters can also aspire to live their own dreams. LiveYourDream.org features inspiring articles and information on various topics including lifestyle, career, health and finance. Supporters can also reap the benefits of a true community by engaging with like-minded people through LiveYourDream.org’s Facebook and Twitter social media sites. O they can visit its YouTube Channel to watch inspiring videos of women who are living their dreams.
Adds Lucas: “We look forward to growing our community and extending our impact on behalf of the world’s women and girls.”
