Soroptimist Domestic Violence Initiatives
In 1994, Soroptimist International of the Americas formally adopted the prevention of domestic
violence as a major focus. Currently, Soroptimists participate in an annual event designed to focus
attention on domestic violence as a workplace concern.
Soroptimist Live Your Dream Campaign
The Live Your Dream campaign inspires women and girls from all walks of life to live their dreams and encourages them to pass on their good fortune to others. Launched in conjunction with International Women's Day, the campaign is commemorated throughout the world on March 8 as an occasion to acknowledge women's struggles and celebrate their many accomplishments.
Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award
Soroptimist is concerned with the special challenges facing girls and young women today. The organization launched the Violet Richardson Award program in 2000 as a way to recognize girls for their volunteer service to their communities.
Soroptimist Club Grants for Women and Girls
Soroptimist Club Grants for Women and Girls are given to Soroptimist clubs that are initiating or continuing innovative projects benefiting women and girls. Recognizing that the ambitions of clubs can sometimes surpass the resources of the club, the Soroptimist organization initiated the Soroptimist Club Grants for Women and Girls in 1997.
Soroptimist Disaster Relief Fund
Through the Soroptimist Disaster Relief Fund for Women and Girls, Soroptimist assists female victims of natural disasters and acts of war. Soroptimist recognizes that women have increased vulnerability during disasters and lack access to resources.
