The SIA Latin America Extension Task Force was formed in 2007 with the goal of chartering and sustaining at least 20 new clubs in Latin America by 2012. The task force will identify target areas, lead club-building efforts and help develop and distribute resources and materials in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The specific goal for the 2007-2009 biennium is to have 10 clubs either chartered or in the process of chartering.

Meetings
The task force held its first formal meeting in Las Vegas, NV on March 2-4, 2008.

At this meeting, the task force identified 10 target cities for new club building:

- Boquete, Panama, MCR
- Chapeco, Brazil, BR
- Cuenco, Ecuador, ADS
- San Jose, Costa Rica, MCR
- Santiago, Chile, ADS
- Cascavel, Brazil, BR
- Buenos Aires, Argentina, ADS
- Valpraiso, Chile, ADS
- Los Cabos, Mexico, MCR
