CLUB BENEFITS: LIVE YOUR DREAM
LiveYourDream.org is a fun and fresh way to present what we do as Soroptimists. The site offers an introduction to Soroptimist in an inspirational and engaging way, and serves as messaging platform—a foundation—for describing and communicating our programs. Check out more club benefits below:
Everyone wants Soroptimist to be well-known. As discussed in the FAQ section, Live Your Dream is a brand stretcher. It’s a fresh new brand that will ultimately serve to draw attention to Soroptimist’s mission of improving the lives of women and girls.
Super easy website address to remember!
When you are talking to a potential member, and you are trying to explain what it is—you can send them to the website. It will be easy for them to remember—www.liveyourdream.org.
No club nearby, no problem!
Ever hear the excuse that there is no club nearby? Since our bylaws state that clubs shall not require attendance at meetings and we don’t have restrictions on where a club member lives or works—you can still encourage interested women to join us! They could use the Live Your Dream website as a “supplement” and a way to still be engaged with our mission.
New club building!
Again, if there is no club nearby and a potential member starts by getting involved in Live Your Dream, you can encourage her to get her friends to sign-up, spread the word, etc. As the enthusiasm and participation grows, the possibility of forming a new club will be much greater—and easier since the group will already be familiar with the great programs Soroptimist offers!
Clubs can connect with Live Your Dream participants!
Your club can interact with Live Your Dream participants on Facebook and Twitter. Say you are having a fundraiser and need to stuff 500 goodie bags and could use some help. You can use the social media avenues to announce your request and see if there are any Live Your Dream participants nearby who might want to help. See FAQ: How do Soroptimists connect with Live Your Dream Volunteers?
Volunteering has changed dramatically since Soroptimist was founded in 1921. One of the most dramatic changes of course is the advent of the internet and social media, which has transformed the way we communicate, volunteer and support causes. Soroptimist has always been a forward-thinking organization. In this day of technology, Live Your Dream offers an online platform for women of all ages who want to be part of a self-motivated community supporting women and girls in their quest to lead better lives. In turn, Live Your Dream will attract a fresh, new audience interested in engaging in our mission.
Keep award recipients engaged and connected with your club and Soroptimist
Your club’s award recipients may not be in a position to join Soroptimist so invite them to join Live Your Dream instead—it’s free for everyone! The online community is a great way to engage them in the Soroptimist mission and connect them with a network of other people who want to help women and girls to live their dreams. In addition, award recipients may find inspiration and helpful tips by reading the Aspire section of LiveYourDream.org, which contains articles on women’s health, careers, finances, and lifestyles. Or perhaps they chose to give back to the community by participating in one of Soroptimist’s programs. Introducing Live Your Dream to your award recipients is a win-win for all!
