Joining the Laurel Society was the best present that I have received from my mother and I value it greatly. Through our contributions to the Laurel Society we work directly towards our mission, supporting our main and distinctive project, the Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Awards, in a direct and complete way. I am absolutely convinced that if we support women though education, we’ll give them a chance for a better life, for themselves and for their children, and one day they will see their dreams come true. I invite all of you to join the Laurel Society.

I joined a Soroptimist club very early, and I am now commemorating 20 years in this organization. I had the opportunity of serving in several club positions, including president and coordinator for Brazil Region in the area of computer data processing and UN. But the most important is that, I am also resuming my work after 30 years of teaching in my country. I know that I did not achieve any position on my own. I had help from my colleagues, including Soroptimists that helped me opening doors to my journey. Many of them already have died, but their lessons stayed with us.
Our organization is comprised of professional women who work in different areas, and the interaction with a diversity of opinions has been very important in my professional life and in forming my leadership skills. My membership in the Laurel Society is an incentive to continue the Soroptimist work. I have no intention of self-promotion but want the promotion of the organization’s collective work. I attached a photo taken with my daughter, because I love the slogan: Women and girls, our priority.
America del Sur Governor-elect, Dolly O'Neill- Mejia, a member of the Laurel Society from SI/ Ibarra, Ecuador says: "When I gave my financial contribution towards SIA programs, I knew that being a member of the Laurel Society was a priority for me."
