Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

by Life Coach Phyllis Mufson

“More powerful than the will to win is the courage to begin.” AnonPhyllis

The comfort zone is called the comfort zone, because - it’s comfortable. It’s a great place to rest and regroup.

However; if you want a future in which you feel fully alive, if you want the thrill of creative self-discovery, if you want to experience the joy that comes with overcoming obstacles, you will have to step out of your comfort zone, and there will be some discomfort.

Are you willing to experience some discomfort?

Here are some powerful allies in dealing with the discomfort that accompanies change:

Your curiosity. Aren’t you curious about what you can create? Don’t you wonder what’s really possible for you? Curiosity is a habit you can cultivate, and an excellent antidote for fear.

Starting small. When you are feeling resistant to change even taking the smallest step forward will begin your journey. Take a step, and then do it again. Baby steps will help you gain confidence.

Gaining support. If you tell someone what you want you’ll multiply your chances of getting it. And if you structure your support, if you work with a coach, or join a class or a support group, the energy and accountability will be even greater. Who will you ask for support?

Your future will largely evolve from the choices you make. What kind of future would you love to create?

What are you interested in learning? Who do you want to reach out to? Who needs what you have to give? What dream do you want you commit to? What adventure is calling you? Who do you want to be?

Start Now. What action will you take in the next five minutes that will change your life for the better?

“Start something. Put one foot in front of the other & inch forward ever so slightly...” Rachel Snyder
