Create a Personal Brand for Success

In today’s tight job market, there is one critical element on your resume that can make your qualifications stand out. It’s your personal brand. A personal brand is the distinctive set of natural strengths that employers get when they hire you versus your competition. Here are some tips that will help you assess and quantify your personal brand.
  1. Examine your strengths carefully. What type of work opportunity do you thrive on? When compared to peers, what do you consistently deliver that others do not?
  2. Gather feedback from others. What qualities do your supervisors point out as assets, especially during a performance review? What professional abilities do others compliment you on even though they seem to come naturally to you?
  3. Assess your competition. What personal style do you bring to the workplace that distinguishes your abilities? What do you regularly accomplish that seems difficult for others to achieve?

Being called for an interview is much easier when you raise your own and others’ perceptions of your achivements and unique contributions.(Source: The Ladders)
